Flair
is a consultancy specialising in:
• training
• facilitation
• business and professional development advice
and mentoring
• project management services
We offer
a professional, yet down to earth service, using a creative, innovative,
holistic and friendly approach.
'Creative'
and 'success' are words we use in the broadest sense. We work with anyone
who wants to use their skills, knowledge and experience in a creative
way to make the most of what they do. We firmly believe in the importance
of having a healthy work-life balance.
Whether
you are an artist, a creative industry business, an art, culture or business
support agency, a local council, a charity, a large company, we can help
you use your creativity to become more successful.
We have
a particular interest in working with people who believe in using creativity
to combat ethnic, cultural and religious discrimination, and who believe
in ethical investment and social justice.
Project
management
Flair
can either advise you about how to efficiently manage your project or
we can plan, develop, and market a project on your behalf. When appropriate,
we can also fundraise for you.
We believe
in the importance of partnership working and networking. We therefore
make the most of existing skills and resources that are available to you.
Examples
of projects we like to manage:
•
advise and mentoring projects for the creative industries
• 'cultural diversity' and heritage projects
with young people
• neighbourhood and arts regeneration projects
• developing an arts programme for refugees
and asylum seekers
• cultural exchange projects, both within
the UK and internationally.
"Flair
was contracted to manage a number of arts and culture projects in St Pauls
due to their track record of creatively and successfully delivering community
and regeneration arts related projects in Bristol's inner city".
Debbie
Thomas, Neighbourhood Arts Manager, Bristol City Council.
"When managing
the Summer in the City programme of events in Easton, Bristol in 2004,
Flair used their extensive networks to develop strong partnerships
between the groups taking part. The programme was marketed to a very wide
and diverse audience, which contributed to raising a positive profile
of the area".
Eleanor Briggs, committee member.
Facilitation
Flair
offers a facilitation service for groups of people who need an 'outsider'
to support the efficient running of events such as
• seminars
• workshops
• staff away days
• planning days
• special meetings
Our approach
is to encourage the participants to feel comfortable, empowered and able
to take active part in the discussions, so that by the end of the event
they feel they have been listened to and have ownership of any of outcomes
and decisions that are made.
"The facilitator
pushed things forward so that we didn't get stuck on things. She kept
to the aims of the day very clearly. She was approachable and very personable.
It felt like her heart was in it".
Participant from a strategic planning day for the Community at Heart Arts
Theme Group, Bristol.
"Flair's
approach to facilitating the development of the Creative Industries Networking
Group is practitioner led, with the emphasis being on enabling the group
to be run in a sustainable way by its members".
John Hector, Business Development Manager, Bristol East Side Traders.

Advice
& mentoring
Flair
gives one-to-one business and professional development advice to individuals
who are seeking to develop their work or business in order to make a better
living. We have a particular interest in working with artists and the
creative industries.
We offer
generalist advice and support, as well as more specific advice in:
• business planning
• marketing and presenting work
• networking
• project management
• fundraising
• financial planning
We believe
in developing longer lasting support relationships with clients and are
therefore keen to work with individuals in a mentoring role.
"My advisor
built an effective advice and mentoring relationship with me which has
enabled me to successfully raise funds, market my work, develop useful
networks, and set my artistic practice up as a business. Flair's
helped me to think for myself, and gave me the confidence I needed to
move on in a professional capacity as an artist".
Mo Ouammi, artist on the Arts Council of England South West Creative Advisor
Scheme.
"Based on
Flair's experience of delivering advice and training to the creative
industries, they were asked to plan and develop an advisory service for
creatives wishing to start or develop their business in an appropriate
way. The end result has proved to be very successful."
John Fitzgerald, Director of Brave Enterprise Agency, Bristol.
